Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

The main objective was to drill the masses the hampering effect of stress (silent killer) on the brain and its management as the theme was captioned Stress and the brain. The week commenced on the first day with Brain Awareness Walk within the University campus led by the University Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin), the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, the Uniport Neuroscience group and the students to sensitize the masses of the week and its profound benefits. The audience were informed of what Brain Awareness Week is all about and the benefits of being a partner of such an amazing foundation. There was a short lecture on the brain and another lecture on the effect of prolonged stress on the brain. Participants enjoyed the lectures especially the Secondary School students. Pamphlets on several topics on the brain obtained from Dana website were also distributed to the students. To the entire University community, a lecture topic captioned relationship between Stress and Mental illness was delivered by a neuropsychiatric. . The unveiling of brain cake was a high point of the 2017 Brain Awareness week. It was indeed a huge success as the students, staff and indeed all participants expressed their profound joy and incredible knowledge assimilated in the course of the programme

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

It was quite glamorous, fascinating and educative to University community ,students and local community at large as many were devoid of the knowledge of stress (silent killer) on the brain. They opted and requested for more of such incredible knowledge explosion on a regular basis.
