Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

The event was dedicated to the use of the poetic verse as a gateway to the unconscious in psychotherapy, according to the method of Imaginative Experience (Passerini, De Palma 2021). An in-depth work of theoretical research and clinical observation shows how the poetic verse, by virtue of the aesthetic sense it bears, is able to activate a transformative movement with a transcendent dynamics. This contributes to a progressive synthesis of the personality and construction of the patient's identity starting from a condensation. The power of poetic constructs is grounded in the brain's innate ability to appreciate its rhythmicity and sound, regardless of its content. We "hear" the poem even when we do not believe we have understood it. This ability of the "poetic brain" makes the protagonists, consciously or not, of an aesthetic experience capable of generating a psychological transformation. Thus it is proposed as an element capable of accompanying the individual in the therapeutic path, realizing and at the same time transcending the psychoanalytic dimension. Poetic lyricism, capable of impressing the psyche even in the modern Digital Man, aims at the realization of a phenomenological dimension in which patient and analyst cooperate in the production of "variegated gemmations of meaning capable of reshaping and thus dynamically transforming the complex constellation of Soul, Mind and Brain" (Chiore, 2021).Speakers: V. Chiore (Director of magazine Bachelardiana); A. Passerini (Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, Founder of S.I.S.P.I.); M. De Palma (Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Training Teacher of S.I.S.P.I.). Report edited by A.Passerini and A.Biasioni.
