The project of the Brain Awareness Week 2020 was to start in Dschang on March 16 with activities scheduled in elementary, primary, secondary schools, FENASSCO site, and the University, and to end in Yaoundé in the Centre region with the second CAMANE Conference. Unfortunately, a part of the week activities has been canceled by the Government notification on March 17 in the evening, because of the COVID-19. However, we succeeded to make the Radio Communication launching the Brain awareness week activities and do some elementary, primary, and secondary school. We felt that we did not fulfill our aim since the FENASSCO site and University open doors were not done, even though activities have resumed the social distance makes it almost impossible for now to perform any activity. However, in the different schools that we covered we were satisfied we the results.

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

The project increase awareness. Indeed, the Dean of the Faculty of Science (the Faculty where I belong) has decided that the theme of the 2020 Brain Awareness Week project that we developed will become a theme of the Faculty of sciences for the scientific University “Grand Conference”. He said that the topic is very interesting as the aggressiveness and violence have been raised in schools and Universities and lifted to the level of government concern.

Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:

We were very amazed by pupils' involvement when we did a practical with a fixed rat's brain. Indeed, as they were having hands on the brain, it was easier for them to understand the explanation related to the lesson.
