Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

11 short clips (1-3 minutes) were made about brain and cognition related topics with the general title: “Know your brain”. They were shown on TV and Opening Ceremony. They were also published and circulated in social media./Opening ceremony of brain awareness week was held on the first day of the week in Tehran. Our speakers were prominent neuroscientists, neurologists, psychologists and psychiatrists. We also had two special guests: Ehsan Hadadi who is an Olympic champion. He talked about attention, movement and focus in professional sport. And Darioush Asadzadeh who is an actor and translator. He is active in both field at the age of 93 and is an example of healthy aging./ Medical and psychology grad students were sent to 70 high schools and talked about brain. This activity approximately covered 14000 students./ A seminar named “Education based on principles of brain and cognition” was held for kindergarten administrators and teachers./ 3 “Brain and Cognition” seminars were held for college students./ 4 seminars about brain and health were held in public halls for general audience./ 4 seminars about brain were held in four chosen schools for high school students./ A website, “Brain and Cognition Club” were created for educating public and students throughout the year and informing people about events and activities about brain./ “Know your Brain” campaign were held by science association in 25 universities. They aimed to familiarize university students with brain and encourage the students in relevant fields to pursue research in related topics./ A lab tour were arranged for high school students to visit National Brain Mapping Lab./ Throughout the week specialists were invited to speak brain in various TV shows.

Which of These Publicity Methods Was The Most Successful?

Social Media, and specifically Telegram posts were one of the most successful methods we used probably due to widespread use of Telegram in Iran.
