About This Event

Event Description:

This program was in conjunction with the WVU Neuroscience Department’s Feed Our Brain campaign, where we raise funds during the school year to enable a $1000 donation to be given to the Monongalia County school district to help pay down school meal debt. We pair this donation with an in-person demonstration of the brain, neuroscience and the importance of brain nutrition for a grade level at the school that receives the donation. However, due to lockdown and social distancing required to combat the corona virus pandemic, an in-person outreach event was not possible. To continue to engage in community outreach our team assembled 2300 brain awareness activity packets, crayons and “swag” (pencils, stickers, brain erasers, etc) and provided them to volunteers packing meal kits for underprivileged kids in the Monongalia County School District.
